Privacy Policy
How we handle information when you use CatalystIQ.
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Dreaming Above Labs (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the CatalystIQ mobile application (“App”) and when you visit our CatalystIQ web pages (the “Site”). By using the App or the Site, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
Information stored on your device
Depending on how you use CatalystIQ, the App may store information locally on your device, such as:
- Preferences and settings (for example, notification options, analysis model choice, or UI state)
- Recent searches and ticker activity
- Cached analysis results to improve performance and reduce repeat requests
- API keys you provide on the free (bring-your-own-key) tier, stored in the App’s local storage on your device
- Alert watchlist symbols and Catalyst Scan theme subscriptions when you use Plus alert features
- Onboarding state, including whether you have used the free onboarding demo analysis
CatalystIQ does not require you to create an account. We do not collect email addresses, passwords, or Sign in with Apple credentials through the App.
Device identifiers
The App may use a device identifier (such as identifierForVendor) to rate-limit the free onboarding demo, register Plus push-alert preferences with our backend, and associate alert delivery with your device. We do not use this identifier for cross-app advertising.
Content you submit for analysis
When you analyze a ticker, the App collects and processes information needed to provide results, such as:
- Ticker symbols and company identifiers you search or select
- News articles and headlines retrieved from third-party news providers
- SEC filing excerpts and metadata retrieved from U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) EDGAR sources
- Trade halt data from public Nasdaq RSS feeds when you use halt-related features
This information is used to generate CatalystIQ Scores, sentiment, catalyst types, insights, and related analysis output.
Free tier (bring your own API keys)
If you use CatalystIQ without a CatalystIQ Plus subscription, the App may send ticker symbols, news text, filing excerpts, and related analysis inputs directly from your device to third-party services using API keys you supply, including:
- OpenAI — to generate structured catalyst analysis (required on the free tier)
- Finnhub — for company news, market news, and symbol search (optional)
- Marketaux — for additional news coverage (optional)
- Stock News API — for additional news coverage (optional; subject to a 100-call-per-day limit enforced in the App on the free tier)
- FreeCryptoAPI — for crypto symbol search and price context (optional)
- SEC EDGAR — for company filings and ticker reference data (public SEC endpoints)
- Nasdaq — for trade-halt RSS feeds (public endpoints)
Those providers process data under their own privacy policies and your agreements with them. Your API keys remain on your device unless you remove them or uninstall the App.
CatalystIQ Plus (managed tier)
If you subscribe to CatalystIQ Plus, similar inputs (ticker symbols, news, filings, and analysis parameters) may be sent from your device to our backend services (Google Firebase Callable Functions), which proxy requests to OpenAI, Finnhub, Marketaux, Stock News API, Marketstack (for market context), FreeCryptoAPI (where used for crypto context), and related providers on your behalf so you do not need to manage API keys.
We may also receive:
- Subscription and entitlement information from RevenueCat and Apple StoreKit (including transaction data needed to verify an active subscription)
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens and alert preferences when you enable Plus push alerts (trade halts, breaking catalyst news, or Catalyst Scan hits)
- App Check tokens when enabled, to help protect backend endpoints from abuse
Plus tier usage is subject to daily analysis limits shown in the App (currently up to 100 analyses per day).
Subscriptions and purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card number. RevenueCat helps us determine whether you have an active CatalystIQ Plus entitlement. Apple’s privacy practices apply to payment and subscription management.
Notifications and background activity
Alert behavior depends on your subscription tier:
- Free tier: If you enable trade-halt alerts, CatalystIQ may schedule local notifications on your device when halts match your preferences while the App polls Nasdaq’s public halt feed. The App may use iOS background fetch to refresh halt data.
- CatalystIQ Plus: If you enable Plus alerts, we register your device with our backend using an FCM token and your alert preferences (for example, watchlist symbols, analyzed tickers, breaking news, or Catalyst Scan themes). Our servers may send remote push notifications for trade halts, breaking catalyst news, and Catalyst Scan hits—even when the App is closed.
These features do not upload your location or contacts.
App analytics (Firebase Analytics)
We use Google Analytics (Firebase Analytics) to understand how the App is used, including app launches, onboarding completion, subscription events, and ticker analyses (symbol only). Google may receive device and app metadata, session information, and an app instance identifier. We may also log custom events such as analysis started or completed (with ticker symbol and tier), subscription purchase or restore, and onboarding demo completion. The Firebase SDK may automatically collect certain lifecycle events (such as first open and session start). We do not use analytics for cross-app advertising or sell personal data. See Google’s Firebase privacy information for more detail.
What we do not collect
Based on the current App design, CatalystIQ does not request access to your camera, photo library, microphone, contacts, HealthKit, or precise location. The App does not include third-party advertising SDKs.
This website (analytics)
When you visit CatalystIQ pages on the Site, we may use third-party analytics (for example, Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager) similar to our other web pages, subject to the provider’s policies and your browser or device controls.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide catalyst analysis, news retrieval, symbol search, trade-halt features, Catalyst Scan, watchlist alerts, and related App functionality
- Operate CatalystIQ Plus managed services, deliver push alerts, and enforce subscription entitlements and usage limits
- Process transactions and manage subscriptions through Apple and RevenueCat
- Understand product usage and improve the App through Firebase Analytics
- Respond to support requests and communicate about the App
- Monitor reliability, security, and performance; detect abuse; and comply with law
Third-party services
The App and Site may rely on third parties, including OpenAI, Finnhub, Marketaux, Stock News API, FreeCryptoAPI, Marketstack, the SEC, Nasdaq, Apple (StoreKit), RevenueCat, and Google Firebase (Core, Analytics, Functions, Cloud Messaging, and optional App Check). Each provider applies its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their policies and the disclosures in the App.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards, when required by law, or to protect our rights and users’ safety.
Retention
We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, unless a longer period is required by law. Local data on your device remains until you delete it or remove the App, subject to your device backup behavior. Backend logs and proxied request data for Plus users are retained only as needed for operations, security, and legal compliance.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for safeguarding API keys you enter on the free tier.
Your choices
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your information, or to object or port data. You can remove API keys and cached data by clearing App storage or uninstalling the App, manage notifications in iOS Settings, and manage subscriptions through your Apple ID account settings. Contact us using the email below for privacy requests.
Children
CatalystIQ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
International users
If you use the App from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on the Site and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App or Site after changes means you accept the revised policy.
